DRONE PHOTOGRAPHY – In the last few years the drone has become the basis of my photographic memories, opening up new vistas of the landscape from a bird’s eye
perspective.
The golden ratio and with it the conventional view of landscape and its horizon no longer play a role.
Landscape appears to become two-dimensional, resulting in unaccustomed pictorial arrangements of colour and form within a highly reduced
sense of space and depth.
Connections between the macrocosm and the microcosm come into focus. In this way the view through a microscope can be compared to that
of a drone’s eye view of a landscape from above.
Carried across into painting, this unconventional approach to perspective afords me an essentially freer, more playful, more abstract and
artistic understanding of the imagery associated with landscape and largely uncouples it from unambiguous associations of objectivity within
the picture.
